Excellent bore and near excellent overall. Full octagon barrel retains 75% blue-; the balance is turning a plum blue patina coloration, magazine tube has excellent blue in protected upper area, the balance turned a dark plum blue, 90% receiver blue on left side, 70% receiver blue on right, the balance is turning. Considerable dimming case colors on hammer and lever, original sights, crescent buttplate. Fine walnut with most original varnish remaining. Interesting gun in that the frame was originally intended for a carbine: staple holes plugged and finished as a rifle. This is verified on Cody Research Form. Gordon’s 1873 survey lists a few others with this alteration in 20,XXX serial number range. Fine gun.
