(8751-14-10) HENRY CIVIL WAR INSCRIBED LEVER ACTION RIFLE

"Frank W. Meese, Kane PA" marked on the side of the receiver. Gun is listed in Wiley Sword's Henry book as a well known, documented Civil War rifle and is in exc+ cond with exc bbl markings, 8,XXX serial number range, sharp corners, very pleasing plum bluish brown patina, no pitting, traces of blue in the protected area, receiver is a very pleasing dark mustard patina coloration. Wood shows a few minor dings and mars but no splits or cracks and is complete with the correct 2nd Model brass buttplate, sling swivels and orig sights. Very fine, good looking Civil War documented Henry rifle. Hard to improve upon this one! ~~> VIEW PHOTO <~~ e

(EL-AD1) ELABORATELY ENGRAVED 66 WINCHESTER AND HENRY PAIR

This pair of guns are on consignment to us from a California collection. They were formerly in the H. Ball collection for the last 60 years and were recently sold to another collector on the West Coast. These guns were part of the award winning gun show display that was called 'Fort Winchester'. Both guns compliment each other beautifully; one is a factory engraved Henry with the engraving attributed to Hoggson. This is very typical of his work-he was the factory engraver that did most the Henry rifles and was quite accomplished in his field; 5,3XX serial number range with fancy wood. The other one is a factory engraved 66 Winchester done by John Ulrich who was Winchesters premier engraver of the period and one of 7 Ulrich engravers; in the 36,XXX range with fancy wood as well; slight repair at the toe. Both have a beautiful very deep butterscotchy brass patina coloration on the receivers. The 66 retains a considerable amount of orig blue; traces of blue on the Henry. Both exhibit some of the finest deepest patina that I've seen on a pair of guns for a number of years. Beautiful inside and out. Guns are to be sold as a pair as per the consignors wishes or the Henry alone but he prefers to sell them as a pair. Quite simply...THE ONLY (CLOSE TO) MATCHED PAIR EVER OFFERED! ~~> VIEW PHOTO <~~ e

(8717-14-69) 2ND MODEL HENRY RIFLE IN 44 RIMFIRE

Orig sights include a folding ladder rear, bbl markings are light but mostly visible, good corners, appears to have had some cleaning but still shows very minor traces of blue in the protected areas. Receiver is a nice, dark, brass patina coloration, sharp corners, nice functioning action. Four of the stock screws are correctly serial-numbered, which is unusual for a gun in the 8200 serial number range. Upper tang screw is a replacement. Stock has a lot of character with marks from what appears to be old Indian tacks that were removed. Wood is lightly freshened but sound and solid, with correct buttplate and orig sling swivels. Good gun for the money. ~~> VIEW PHOTO <~~ e

(8590-14-68) 2ND MODEL HENRY RIFLE IN THE 10,XXX SERIAL NUMBER RANGE

Overall gun is in VG+ cond with an aged plum brown patina coloration to the bbl, exc markings, correct orig sights which include the frequently seen stationary buckhorn rear, VG bore-some scattered minor pits. Receiver has turned a blotchy butterscotch patina coloration, mechanical cond is exc. Orig wood is in VG+ cond; great looking stock with 2-3 dozen tacks which have been in there a long time indicating what appears to be Indian usage-definitely a lot of age to the tacks. Correct sling swivels as well as sling staple on the bbl, crisp action. Overall gun has a lot of eye appeal and definitely shows Western heritage. This would be a great addition to anyone's Winchester collection. ~~> VIEW PHOTO <~~ e

(8554-14-4) MARTIALLY MARKED CIVIL WAR HENRY IN THE 3,1XX SERIAL NUMBER RANGE

Overall gun is generally VG with a light bbl address, semi sharp corners, bbl shows signs of having possibly been cleaned at one time and is a gun metal gray brownish coloration. Orig brass receiver is generally VG with some rounding to the corners, possibly polished a long time ago and has since turned a darker brass patina coloration. Wood shows the usual scuff marks, dings and signs of minor abuse but is still sound and solid with no splits or cracks. Marked on the side of the receiver is 'C.C.' as well as the 'CGC' stamp on the bbl which is definitely guaranteed to be correct. Overall gun is generally a VG specimen of a hard to find martially marked Henry rifle. Less than 150 of these have surfaced to date. All correct with the exception of the buttplate; it's a correct Henry style but is not matching to the gun. Not a bad looking gun. ~~> VIEW PHOTO <~~ e

Orig wood exc with correct Henry bump, just a few light handling mars and dings; sound, solid and in fine cond. Overall metal is exc as well with the brass having turned a darker coloration-a few dings and mars from years ago; untouched with a nice mustard patina coloration. (13-328) RARE GUARANTEED ORIGINAL CIVIL WAR WOOD CLEANING ROD

Some of these are encountered now and then but very rarely are they orig like this one is: I took this rod out of a Henry myself over 45 years ago when they were not considered to be correct. I've only seen a couple of them in the last 40 years. ~~> VIEW PHOTO <~~ e

(8334-14-5) ANOTHER MAGNIFICENT HENRY RIFLE FROM MERZ ANTIQUE GUNS

Early 4,XXX serial range, all numbers match on this round heeled variation of the Henry. Very nicely aged brown gray patina on the bbl. There are a couple of marks on the bbl but the metal is generally in nice smooth cond and the octagons are very nice; the patina on the receiver has that very pretty mustardy aged look to it. Nice fitting wood is in VG cond, a little bit of shrinkage at the lower tang and at the toe. Gun is equipped with sling swivels and has a very well defined 'Henry Bump'. Orig sights but rear one is missing the slider. Fine Henry that anybody would be proud to own! Nice gun! ~~> VIEW PHOTO <~~ e

(7303-14-3) EARLY ROUND HEEL HENRY RIFLE

Early feature gun with the receiver dovetail which has a brass blank in it; probably done 120 years ago? Looks good. Receiver has a rich dark attractive patina to it, bbl is a pleasing dark brown antique patina. Pretty darn good bore in this Henry too! Nice stock that is VG fitting with minimal shrinkage. This rifle equipped with sling swivels and some old boy out on the frontier did have a sling on it as the stock exhibits a real neat wear pattern. Chip out of stock on bottom right side, orig wood finish, rear sight is the sometimes encountered simple flat style dovetail sight. A majestic, beautiful piece of American history! ~~> VIEW PHOTO <~~ e

(7055-14-137) HENRY LEVER ACTION REPEATING RIFLE

Caliber 44 Rimfire. Orig sights, exc bore. Overall gun is in exc+ cond with 70-75% orig bright blue remaining on the bbl; starting to tone somewhat. Sharp corners, exc markings. Receiver is dark with sharp lines, good patina, untouched, all screws are in exc cond. Orig wood has been lightly cleaned but has not been sanded or undersized, correct matching numbers as is the buttplate. Mechanical cond is exc, crisp and tight, all corners are sharp. Far better than average Henry; in fact it's one of the better ones I've had in a long time. Very attractive. ~~> VIEW PHOTO <~~ e
