(EL-R1062) PAIR OF PRESENTATION 1858 REMINGTON PERCUSSION REVOLVERS
These guns were presented to Lt. Parker Jackson of Brandon, VT. Accompanying the guns is a pretty lengthy list of provenance stating various activities that he was involved with during the Civil War as he reached various ranks in the Military. He fought in some of the famous battles during the war: Vicksburg and Baton Rouge; at the age of 27 he enlisted on January 6, 1862 as a 2nd Lieutenant of Company B, 7th Vermont Infantry, was promoted to 1st Lieutenant in December 1862 and to Captain in October 1863. He was mustered out with his regiment in March of 1866 and saw action throughout the South particularly at Vicksburg, MS; Baton Rouge, LA, Gonzalez Station Spanish Fort, Mobile, AL and Whistler in April 1865. When the war was over, the regiment ended up stationed in Brownsville TX as part of Sheridan's Army keeping the French occupation forces in Mexico; he remained in Brownsville until they were mustered out in 1866. In a dispatch report by the regimental commander, Col. W.C. Holbrook, Captain Parker was sited for gallantry in action at Spanish Fort on March 29, 1865. Interesting character; quite colorful Civil War Lieutenant. The guns are very possibly unfired; the loss of blue is strictly due to flaking. One is probably 75% glossy blue-the balance flaked and the other is about 50% orig blue with the balance flaked. Guns are crisp and tight as can be with all the correct marital markings that these generally have. Mech cond exc, fine bore, orig grips show very little use. Great pair of guns, all orig.
