(8749-14-9) WINCHESTER MODEL 1866 1st MODEL FLAT SIDE SADDLERING CARBINE

Serial number is 13,936. It appears there were some tacks imbedded in the forearm which have been removed a long time ago, buttstock looks good-shows alot of saddlering wear on the side and looks to be a very old replacement. Overall gun shows a fair amount of wear with somewhat rounded corners, the receiver has a real nice, deep butterscotch patina coloration, bbl is mostly a bluish brown patina. Colorful old gun; apparently it came out of Mexico and looks like it's got some homemade type sling swivels on it, correct sights, nice functioning action, correct saddlering. If Madis would have called these Henry Carbines, they'd probably bring about ten times what they're selling for today, however, it's still a rare gun and has a good premium-this is the first 1st Model flat side carbine I've had in probably 10 years. Not a bad gun. ~~> VIEW PHOTO <~~ e

(14-306) ELABORATELY ENGRAVED 66 WINCHESTER AND HENRY PAIR

This pair of guns are on consignment to us from a California collection. They were formerly in the H. Ball collection for the last 60 years and were recently sold to another collector on the West Coast. These guns were part of the award winning gun show display that was called 'Fort Winchester'. Both guns compliment each other beautifully; one is a factory engraved Henry with the engraving attributed to Hoggson. This is very typical of his work-he was the factory engraver that did most the Henry rifles and was quite accomplished in his field; 5,3XX serial number range with fancy wood. The other one is a factory engraved 66 Winchester done by John Ulrich who was Winchesters premier engraver of the period and one of 7 Ulrich engravers; in the 36,XXX range with fancy wood as well; slight repair at the toe. Both have a beautiful very deep butterscotchy brass patina coloration on the receivers. The 66 retains a considerable amount of orig blue; traces of blue on the Henry. Both exhibit some of the finest deepest patina that I've seen on a pair of guns for a number of years. Beautiful inside and out. Guns are to be sold as a pair as per the consignors wishes or the Henry alone but he prefers to sell them as a pair. Quite simply...THE ONLY (CLOSE TO) MATCHED PAIR EVER OFFERED! ~~> VIEW PHOTO <~~ e

(8678-14-143) 4TH MODEL WINCHESTER 66 RIFLE

Brass forend cap, steel butt-plate, full oct bbl, full length magazine tube. Mag tube and bbl show some signs of being cleaned; the bbl is mostly a plum brown coloration, the mag tube has a more nickelly color to it. Orig wood is generally VG with a small chip missing out of the front of the forearm; other than that, it probably would grade exc. Receiver is untouched and is a fairly dark mustard yellow color. Fairly clean little gun. All orig. ~~> VIEW PHOTO <~~ e

(8677-14-138) WINCHESTER MODEL 66 3RD MODEL SPORTING RIFLE

Correct orig sling swivels, orig wood is generally VG with a piece missing out of the forearm: 2" long by about 1/8", brass forend cap and buttplate. Bbl has turned mostly a plum brown patina coloration, good markings and I believe a sight from a 66 carbine is fitted to the rear sight. Receiver is generally a dark patina mustard coloration with fairly sharp corners, a few mars and dings; other than that, it's not a bad looking gun. Nice functioning action, all matching numbers. These are getting harder and harder to find all the time. ~~> VIEW PHOTO <~~ e

(8676-14-6) VERY FINE 66 4TH MODEL RIFLE

Overall gun is in beautiful condition with a very deep, aged, untouched butterscotch patina coloration to the brass. Orig wood shows very little use; there's just a minor crack in the front forearm wood that has been repaired and is hardly noticable. Good traces of blue, the balance turning a plum patina coloration, fine markings, sharp corners, action is crisp and tight. The 4th Model is a fairly scarce gun having been made out of steel parts on the forend cap and buttplate-rarely, if ever encountered. Guaranteed untouched and excellent+ throughout. ~~> VIEW PHOTO <~~ e
