Serial number is in the 1,4XX range. 26" concave matted rib bbl marked 'Excelsior Steel' over the top of each chamber, rib is marked 'Charles Daly Diamond Quality Featherweight'. Gun features automatic safety's, auto ejectors, double trigger; a beautifully engraved, sculptured and scalped boxlock frame with game scenes on the bottom. Orig wood is in exc cond with a splinter forearm and a pistol grip checkered circassian walnut stock which measures 14" to the end of an American type of white line recoil pad, 1-1/2" drop at the comb, 2-1/2" drop at the heel. Overall gun is in superb cond with virtually 98-99% orig bright glossy blue on the bbl, receiver is crisp and sharp with the satin type of case colors that really accentuates the engraving, inside of the water tables marked 'Prussia'. Also features the side clips on the receiver. Choked improved cylinder and improved modified. Marked on top of the rib: 'Premier Quality'. Receiver is beautifully engraved with a waterfall scene and several ducks on one side, several different heron surrounded by delicate scroll engraving on the bottom of the receiver; beautifully done! Gun is in exc cond with a considerable amount of orig case colors on the sideplates and the bottom of the frame, bbls retain most of the orig damascus pattern, exc bores. Wood has been restocked with a beavertail style forearm, buttstock is also a replacement and measures 14-3/4" to the end of a red recoil pad; professionally checkered-nicely done. Mechanical cond is excellent.

(M-125-12-513) VERY INTERESTING GERMAN COMBINATION PERCUSSION RIFLE/SHOTGUN
 58 Caliber rifle barrel and 20 Gauge shotgun barrel. Early manufacture probably dating back to about 1800. I believe this was originally started as a flintlock but before manufacture was completed, they utilized a percussion style ignition system because the safety device is utilizing the flint frizzen springs which come into play in front of the hammers when they are at full cock. Fine little gun marked ‘I. Eitel’ on one lockplate; ‘A. Weilburg’ on the other. Superb condition with most all the original browning on the barrel, case colors on the lock have turned a little molten; superb wood featuring both incised and raised carving in a floral pattern done in the best manner. Heavy brass fixtures; carved wooden patchbox on the side of the stock that opens up-inside is a German newspaper dated 1866. Excellent+ inside & out. ~~> VIEW PHOTO <~~ e

Quite a unique safety device on this gun-there's a hinged pin in front of the trigger guard that you can reach forward and pull back releasing the safety.  Featuring 30” barrels, English style straight stock, checkered butts, automatic ejectors, double triggers. Manufactured in approximately 1904; both guns are in beautiful condition with 95% vivid case colors remaining on the receivers. The bbls have been professionally re-done and retain all of the blue. Very extensively engraved with three game scenes on each sideplate as well as a pair of rabbits in a game scene on the floorplate. The tops of the receivers are chisel relief engraved quite deeply, the top openers are marked #1 and 2, a gold presentation plaque on the bottom of the stock indicating that they came from the Vanderbilt family. The pair of guns are in an original Purdey labeled case. One of the best pairs of guns that a person could hope for. Excellent condition inside and out. Complete with a factory letter from Purdy verifying that the guns were made for W.K. Vanderbilt Jr. as well as confirming all the original configuration such as bbl length and stock dimensions. Lots of blue remaining but it’s thinning; ejectors, double triggers and a beautifully engraved receiver. Someone modified the pistol grip and lower tang to a more stream-lined shape. Nice figure in the French walnut stock and forearm, wood is in great conition with no cracks or loss. LOP 14-3/4” over a leather covered pad. Guns have been rebarreled by Holland & Holland and are so marked on the top of the 28” barrels, also marked ‘Modified and Improved Cylinder Choking’. Full side lock guns with 5 or 6 different vignettes; most of the engraving is very delicately done with the top of the frame done in chiseled relief style. Wood is in excellent condition with 14-1/2” pull. Both guns are in excellent condition; the frames and sideplates are generally a light grayish coloration with traces of case color in the protected areas, no pitting or signs of abuse. Case is an original W.C. Scott with the new Holland & Holland label printed at the time that the barrels were done and the guns were reproofed. Nice outfit! Original checkered Circassian walnut stock is in excellent condition with an engraved steel buttplate. Original 28” barrels are in very near excellent condition, complete with original sling swivels. Fine bores choked full and improved modified, 30” barrels retain 95% bright shiny barrel blue, receiver retains 25% case colors with 50-60% original blue remaining on the underside of the receiver. Border areas tastefully engraved. Boxlock with ejectors and double triggers, checkered splinter forearm and straight grip stock are VG. 14¼” pull to the end of the original stock.  This is the only gun I’ve seen manufactured this way: it converts from a Pinfire to a Percussion. Very high quality in excellent condition with 29” barrels which retain 90%+ vivid Damascus pattern. Underlever opener, backaction lock and receiver are superbly engraved with deep relief chiseled motifs featuring dragons and flying monsters. Original stock shows a fair amount of wear to the checkering but is in fine condition with no splits or cracks; complete with cheekpiece and sling eyes. Inlaid in silver on top of the barrel, “J .Fuchs in Brotterode.’ Original half octagon 33” barrel, 20 Gauge. Very elaborately done gun. Unmarked lock; spring mounted nipple cover. Full length musket style stock, forend and wrist have sharp checkering panels with quite numerous amount of silver studs off-setting the checkering. German silver furniture (cleaning rod holders, buttplate and triggerguard). Stocks retain most original varnish. Overall metal is a plum brown coloration with some minor pits. Beautifully done gun with back action locks, an under lever type of opening system which is an ornate little lever directly in front of the trigger guard which pushes forward to open the action. Elaborately engraved with game scenes and numerous gold inlays-the makers name is in gold as well as gold frames around some of the game scenes. VG bores, barrels retain 50-60% of the original brown Damascus pattern; receiver is a light gun metal gray with sharp corners and engraving, excellent walnut stocks with an unusual right hand cheek piece.
