(MSG575-17-173) MASSIVE FLINTLOCK WALL GUN

This type of gun was also used extensively for market hunting. The bore equates to approximately a 6-bore and shoots 3+ ounces of shot, or you can also shoot a ball. The 55" heavy bbl is a smooth bore. Overall length is over 6 feet. Weight is approximately 20 pounds. The only markings are on the top of the bbl. In large letters is "D N 28". It is British built and Belgium proofed in Liege. Liege was the finest proof house at the time. No other markings on the lockplate or anywhere else on the gun. All clean smooth metal that has turned a very pleasing antique plumish/brown coloration. The end of the bbl is slightly flared, but not nearly as exaggerated as a blunder buss. There is a hook on the forearm for holding it from recoiling when you are on a wall or parapet. Probably did not see a lot of use due to its fine condition. The wood is in VG+ condition with no apparent cracks or losses. Slight age shrinking at the buttplate. A coat of oil has been added at some time. Mechanically everything works fine. Bore is good. Includes a modern ball mold with a few 1,100 grain balls, cleaning rod and a huge antique Capewell's Patent flask that is over 12 inches long. An excellent item to display and a great conversation piece. This is a BIG fricken gun! ~~> VIEW PHOTO <~~ e
